HYPOTHESIS:

It never hurts to ask.

RESULTS:

Asking for a punch in the face could result in getting a punch to the face.

Punches in the face can hurt.

Since asking for a punch in the face could result in getting hurt, the hypothesis “it never hurts to ask” has been rejected.

Discussion:

Sometimes it hurts to ask.

    Brilliant! Next you should dissect the myth that there’s no wrong way to eat a Reese’s. Yes, I thought ‘what expression can I suggest?’ and an advertisement popped into my head. Which I guess is a credit to that ad agency from however long ago those commercials ran, but also a testament to how sad my brain works.
