Conan O’Brien Returns to Late Night

With the Tonight Show/Jay Leno fiasco well behind him, Conan O’Brien makes his triumphant return to late night TV at 11 pm tonight on TBS (in Canada it can also be seen at midnight on the Comedy Network, and 1AM on CTV).  The show’s name is simple: Conan. Tagging along is lovable sidekick, Andy Richter and most of the Max Weinberg 7. Unfortunately, the legendary drummer himself, Max Weinberg, will not be on Conan, and will be replaced as band leader by guitarist Jimmy Vivino. The new band will be called The Basic Cable Band.

The Tonight Show feud (you can read more about it here) only seemed to bolster O’Brien’s popularity and build a legion of online fans. At the time of writing this, Conan has nearly 2 million followers  on Twitter (@ConanOBrien), almost 300,000 fans of the Team Coco Facebook page, and a pretty fantastic website, TeamCoco.com. Also, at the bottom of this post you can watch the 5 minute Show Zero posted from his YouTube channel.

The arrival of Conan bumps Lopez Tonight to the midnight time slot, but don’t worry about a new feud starting between Coco and George Lopez, Lopez is partly responsible for Conan being at TBS having helped persuade him to join the network in the first place.
